Order of the Golden Rule C.A.N.A - Cremation Association of North America
Founded in 1925 by Adolph
& Della Jakubs, the original Funeral Home was located at 6621 Edna Ave. in
Cleveland. Following the death of Adolph in 1932, Della operated the business
alone until 1951 when her son, William, joined the Funeral Home staff.
|
 |
|
The second location, at
936 East 185th St. was opened in 1954 and expanded in 1964 and 1972 to meet the
needs of the families it serves.
The original Jakubs Funeral
Home closed its doors in 1972 around the time the second locations expansion was
complete.
In 1976, the Jakubs Family
welcomes third generation family member William, Jr. into the business.
|
 |
| In 1983 the
Jakubs staff was saddened by the loss of Della. Six years later, in 1989, William,
Sr.'s son-in-law, Kenneth Schmidt, joined the family business. |
|
By 1995 the location at
36000 Lakeshore Blvd in Eastlake was ready to serve, and Michael Danaher was brought
in to manage the location
thus the Jakubs-Danaher name. In conjunction with
the opening of the Eastlake location, the Funeral Home on 185th street received
a matching make-over and remodeling. Both locations are fully functional and handicap
accessible.
